Happy Birthday MawMaw Rosie!

At the end of August my family celebrated my grandmother's 95th birthday. Oh how I love my mawmaw. I spent the first 5 years of my life with her every single day. She was my daycare! She taught me so much. How to cook the best cornbread you have ever had and still to this day everyone in my family says I cook mawmaw's cornbread(which is so good:). I love collard greens because of her. I have so many wonderful childhood memories because of her. I could cook you almost anything you wanted by the age of 3 because of her. She taught me so many things i could go on and on. Like I said she is 95 and you would think she would be in bad health. Not her! She does not take ANY medication, not a single one. She still walks by herself, with a cane, and will tell you what she thinks in a heartbeat! We had a big family dinner with her children, grandchildren, great-grands, neices, nephews, great nephews and so on. Her picture was on the front of out hometown paper! She loved that. Also a resolution was passed by all members of congress in the state of Alabama in honor of her birthday. We received the original bill signed by our senator Roger Bedford congratulating her on a such a memoriable occasion. What an honor.
I am hoping to catch everyone up on what's been going on so be on the lookout for some more posts! Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

This picture just makes me smile!

oh and I forgot to mention the huge snake that Zoey walked right up and started petting. The zoo keepers had brought out a boa constrictor (i think) and were letting children 5 years old and up pet it. I just walked right up on it and it almost scared me to death, but not my little girl. She walked right up to it and started petting it before the ladies could even ask how old she was. Oh my!

Memphis Zoo

The beginning of June we took Zoey to the zoo in Memphis. We had a blast. She loved everything, especially the monkeys. I had not been in a couple of years. When I was a child we went all the time. My brother was taking treatments at St.Jude and we went just about every day. I was so excited to see how Zoey would react to all the different animals. Did I mention how much she loves animals??? It doesn't matter she loves them all and she is not scared not one bit!

a little summer fun

A few weeks ago I took Zoey swimming at my in-laws pool. I wasn't sure if she was going to like it or not because her first summer she loved it and last summer she hated it! Well she LOVED it this year. I was so happy/scared! She is starting swimming lessons today. We are all doing great. Loving being outside when it's not too hot!

My Little Ball Player!!

Our spring started off very busy this year. We signed Zoey up for t-ball . We thought it would be something good for her to try. She is only 3 so I was hesitant at first, but she has turned out to really enjoy it. She has improved so much since the first part of the season. We are so proud of her. Just wanted to share a few of my favorite pictures from this year so far. The bottom one is one of my favorites. She is definately a daddy's girl!

RELAY FOR LIFE

This past Friday night we attended the Relay for Life in Vernon. This year was special because my brother Chris participated in it. He is a cancer SURVIVOR. I beamed with joy. I was so proud of him!!!He has been through so much in his lifetime. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor when he was 13 years old. He began his treatments at St. Jude. He had to return to Laboneur in 1992 for back surgery and in 1998 they removed the titanium steel rods. He is by far the strongest person I know. He was also honored to carry the banner for the first lap of the survivor walk. I got a little emotional on that part. All the glory to God.!!!
